Chapter 19 in The Blue Economy in African Coastal Communities, Volume I, 2026, pp 479-491 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract This chapter is the concluding part of the book titled “Blue economy in African coastal communities: Practical Policy making, Economic and Social Resilience, and Climate Change Mitigation,” volume one. The chapter summarizes the salient issues from the chapters and points out the lessons for achieving the blue economy. The chapter presents the discussions in three broad areas: studies on practical policymaking in the blue economy space, chapters on economic and social resilience in coastal environments and their implications for the blue economy, and the chapters in the last section touched on climate change mitigation and the blue economy. The chapters were discussed, and implications teased out for direct policymaking. In all, seventeen (17) chapters were discussed that spanned across 32 African countries. Some case studies on country-specific and policy-specific analysis were done. Also, some chapters were on a panel of African countries. Conclusions teasing out nuances for policy direction are captured in this chapter.
