Chapter 4 in The Political Economy of Independent Ukraine, 2000, pp 49-73 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract In this chapter economic reform will be analysed, focusing not so much on government rhetoric but rather on concrete government policies and policy implementation with respect to price liberalization, financial infrastructure, privatization and conditions for the development of small- and medium-sized enterprises, de-monopolization and tax reforms. The liberalization of foreign trade, another major area of reform, will be dealt with in Chapter 7. This chapter will focus on economic reform and institutional change.
