Abstract:
Eleven distinguished economist analyze Peru´s economic situation, review its background, and forecast the nation´s economic future. Among the topics covered are analyses of the history of long-term changes, reforms and economic structures, focusing on the dynamic sectors, including coca and cocaine. The structural adjustment programs principal areas of concern are discussed: diversification of productivity, unemployment, unequal income distribution, encouragement of entrepreneurial leadership, and sustained reform. In addition, this work includes analyzes of the role of the real exchange rate in macroeconomics policy and several scenarios based on a financial model that forecasts the Peruvian economy’s behavior during the next few years.
