Abstract:
This book explores the socioeconomic and policy factors shaping food security and nutrition across Asia, addressing challenges rooted in inequality, well-being, and agricultural practices. Part I examines the connection between well-being and food security, featuring studies from Indonesia, Pakistan, Viet Nam, and India on issues such as nutritional disparities, rural-urban vulnerabilities, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Part II focuses on agricultural policies and their influence on nutrition, analyzing India’s dairy sector, the drivers of organic food consumption in Viet Nam, and the role of pulses in India’s food security. Providing empirical insights from diverse settings, this book highlights structural inequalities in food access and offers policy recommendations for building sustainable, equitable nutrition systems in Asia and beyond.
