This publication features the lifework of a Thai professor, Prof. Charan Chantalakhana, whose work centered on smallholder farming systems especially cattle and buffalo genetic improvement. Prof Charan's decades of sterling and committed service have contributed in no small measure to the well being of farmers in Thailand and in the region. His work has touched the lives of millions of people, especially those in developing countries who are primarily dependent on agriuculture for livelihood
