The Informal Financial Sector in Developing Countries: Analysis, Evidence and Policy Implications

Abstract: A framework for the macroeconomic analysis of the informal financial sector in developing countries is developed in this paper in the light of the available empirical evidence. It also appraises its implications for monetary policy and financial intermediation.
