How Secondary Capital Market Work in the United States

Abstract: This paper provides an introduction to U.S. secondary capital markets that may guide countries to enhance emerging markets of their own. The focus is specifically on four issues, namely: trading in U.S. capital market; major clearing and settlement systems for U.S. government securities and corporate bonds and stocks; the information role of secondary markets; and, the role of government.
