Abstract: This study attempts to review recent developments in the operations of foreign financial institutions in the SEACEN countries; examine the current policy on the participation of foreign financial institutions and their access to domestic business opportunities; assess the effects of evolving structural changes on financial markets and monetary policy; and, analyze the implications for the future direction of monetary policy.
