The Emergence of Non-bank Financial Institutions in the SEACEN Countries

Abstract: This paper traces the emergence of non-bank financial intermediaries in the SEACEN region. An indication of the size and structure of non-banks in the SEACEN region is also given. Some general issues that bear implications by central banks and monetary authorities are also pointed out.
