Chapter Chapter 6 in Nigerian Politics, 2021, pp 99-124 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter examines the legislative institution in Nigeria, focusing on the National Assembly. We proceeded by looking at the constitutional and institutional development of the legislature in Nigeria. This chapter also discusses the three most important functions of the legislature. It identifies the constitutional powers of the legislature. In this chapter, we discuss the internal structure of the legislature. The relationship between the legislature and the constituency was also highlighted. The importance and role of the committee of the national assembly received its deserved attention in the chapter. Considering the infrequent nature of the legislature in Nigeria, it has been facing some challenges and these challenges were captured in this chapter.
