A chapter in Africa and the Formation of the New System of International Relations—Vol. II, 2023, pp 317-328 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The article examines a comprehensive integrated peacekeeping strategy and approaches of the EU Countries to resolve the multidimensional Crisis in Mali, which is exacerbated by a deep political Crisis, the islamic terrorist threat, and the claims of ethnic minorities. The analysis of the EU’s approaches and mechanisms from 2012 to 2021 to stabilize the situation in Mali is particularly relevant given the reduction of France’s military presence, the end of Operation Barkhane, and the unpredictable trajectory of the multidimensional crisis. During the analysis, the author revealed that the EU peacekeeping strategy is characterized by multi-actors, with a shift in focus from security and socio-economic development initiatives to migration, governance, and counter-radicalization projects in the Sahel. The study is based on a systemic-historical approach, using analysis of political discourse and key documents, as well as statistical methods (UN website data analysis).
