Post-COVID-19 African Development Challenges in African Think Tanks Studies

Abstract: Abstract Globalization, technological revolution and modern socio-economic and political problems require sound analysis and effective recommendations, which lead to an increasing role of think tanks (TT) in identifying new challenges and threats and recommending ways to adress them, as well as expanding communication with the media, society and governments. TTs in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) are developing rapidly: there are 671 analytical centers in 2020. The countries with the highest number of TT are South Africa (102), Kenya (64), Nigeria (52) and Ghana (44). There are many publications in African TT, that address the problem of COVID-19 in Africa, which allows to provide a comparative analysis on issues such as: identifying problems in the response of certain regions of the world to these challenges, preparing recommendations for SSA on a comprehensive post-pandemic recovery, problems in African integration, youth policies, strategic priorities for Africa and China, etc. ACET (Ghana) identifies 10 priority areas for recovery, economic growth and transformation in Africa, AECR (Kenya) considers the development problems of some countries and highlights the difficult moments in the development of integration processes in the region. SAIIA (South Africa) identifies strategic priorities in Africa-China relations in various sectors, identifies problems in the fight against the pandemic in different regions of the world, and identifies key directions for post-COVID recovery of African countries. The recommendations of African TT are very important for their governments, the AU, business and political elites.
