A chapter in Climate Change in Africa, 2026, pp 363-389 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter reviews studies on climate finance and examines approaches aimed at attracting more private sector funding for climate change mitigation and adaptation projects. The chapter explores whether public–private partnerships offer a better solution compared to other models of climate finance. Blended finance is a financing model that has been championed in the development finance literature, and we consider its application to climate finance in this chapter. The chapter includes a study of trends in research on climate finance focusing on Sub-Saharan Africa using bibliometric analysis. We conclude the chapter with policy options and recommendations.
