Chapter Chapter 5 in Reforming State-Owned Enterprises in Asia, 2021, pp 89-109 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Starting from end-2016, Uzbekistan embarked on a wide set of comprehensive structural reforms aimed at revitalizing key sectors, liberalizing its markets, and introducing market mechanisms in the economy. Given the still important role of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) across a number of sectors in the country, any package of economic reforms will necessarily have to take into account the high dominance of these enterprises across multiple sectors and address issues specifically related to, or stemming from, the dominance of SOEs in the economy.
