Ecosystem Service Value Accounting and Assessment of Qingping Entrance Community in Giant Panda National Park

Abstract:
Abstract Ecosystem service value accounting serves as fundamental work for establishing sound ecological compensation mechanisms and exploring pathways to transform lucid waters and lush mountains into invaluable assets. This study focuses on the Qingping entrance community of Giant Panda National Park and employs an improved equivalent factor method to systematically evaluate ecosystem service values based on the 2020 Third National Land Survey data. Following the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment (MA) framework, the study categorizes ecosystem services into four major types with 11 functions: provisioning services, regulating services, supporting services, and cultural services. The standard equivalent factor value is calculated as 3,223.72 yuan/hm2 based on grain production data from Mianzhu City in 2022. The results reveal that the total ecosystem service value of Qingping community reaches 2,181.70 million yuan, with a unit area value of 66,252 yuan/hm2, significantly exceeding the national average (28,400 yuan/hm2). In terms of service types, regulating services dominate with a value of 1,526.97 million yuan (70.00%), among which water regulation and climate regulation collectively contribute 53.29%; supporting services account for 437.08 million yuan (20.03%), primarily contributed by soil conservation and biodiversity maintenance; provisioning services contribute 129.90 million yuan (5.95%); and cultural services contribute 87.76 million yuan (4.02%). From the perspective of ecosystem types, arbor forests and shrub forests together contribute 88.20%, fully demonstrating the pivotal role of forest ecosystems in ecosystem service provision. The research findings provide quantitative basis for formulating ecological compensation standards, designing differentiated compensation mechanisms, and exploring pathways for transforming lucid waters and lush mountains into invaluable assets for entrance communities of Giant Panda National Park, offering important reference value for promoting coordinated conservation and development under the national park system.
