A chapter in Proceedings of the 19th International Symposium on Management (INSYMA 2022), 2023, pp 423-432 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This study aims to examine the critical role of proactive personality on the employee service innovative behavior and the indirect effect of mediation of work engagement. 323 complete responses from full-time frontline employees in Indonesia’s public service organization were used and analyzed with Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results show that proactive personality positively influences employee service innovative behavior, both directly and indirectly, through work engagement. Furthermore, this research is expected to contribute to policymakers in human resources to identify proactive personality in talent recruitment and selection and pay attention to increasing work engagement as a significant mediator to stimulate innovative behavior in employee services, especially in the public sector.
