Abstract:
Abstract The general increase in coffee prices in the Chinese market is mainly caused by the coffee bean supply crisis. This paper explores the global shortage and delays of coffee beans, which can be explained mostly by natural disasters, transportation crises, and labor shortages. This paper also analyzes the external environment of large coffee retailers in China via Porter’s 5 Forces, taking Starbucks as a sample. To alleviate the coffee supply chain crisis exerted on domestic large coffee retailers, recommendations are made based on the external environment analysis. The specific solutions proposed for large-sized coffee retailers are to expand inventories and to diversify the sources of coffee bean supply.
