Research on the Obstacles to the Promotion of Green Finance in China’s Underdeveloped Regions

Abstract: Abstract To explore the factors that hinder the promotion of green finance and help China achieve the “dual carbon” goals efficiently. This paper identifies 21 obstacles to the promotion of it through grounded theory. Interpretative Structural Modeling (ISM) is used to analyze the internal logical relationship of each obstacle, and the key intervention objects are identified through Cross-Impact Matrix Multiplication Applied to Classification (MICMAC). The results show that the system of obstacles to the promotion of green finance includes 6 levels, including surface factors such as the single type of green financial products and the lack of green investment concept of investors, etc. Moreover, there are 3 core underlying factors, including the time lag of policies, the imbalance of green financial markets in various regions, and the large income gap. This study provides effective suggestions for the problem of promoting green finance in underdeveloped regions in China.
