Abstract: Abstract In today’s global economy, finance plays an increasingly important role and has gradually become the flagship of any country’s economic system, or even its cornerstone. Growth and development of Hong Kong as an international financial center are inextricably linked to a highly open and transparent economy and an environment of fair and free competition. An analysis is provided in this paper of the growth and development of Hong Kong as an international financial center, a comparison is made of the similarities and differences that exist between Hong Kong and London, Tokyo, and Singapore, and a conclusion is drawn. Lastly, it makes a prediction regarding the future development of the Hong Kong financial industry. According to this study, Hong Kong’s development as an international financial center began before the 1970s and has continued to this day. In comparison with London, Tokyo, and Singapore, Hong Kong’s development is distinguished by its background and its use of means. This paper forecasts that Hong Kong’s securities market will continue to develop positively in the future and that the financial industry will be transformed and upgraded. Nevertheless, Hong Kong’s financial sector may also experience fluctuations.
