Abstract: Abstract This paper selects 31 provinces in China to measure China’s export technology complexity in the current situation. It applies Dugam Gini coefficient and its decomposition to study the variances in the export technology complexity of China’s manufacturing industry overall and among the four major regions. Additionally, it illustrates the dynamic evolution of the manufacturing industry’s export technology complexity in different regions through kernel density estimation diagrams. We conclude that concerning the dynamic evolution of the technical complexity of manufacturing exports, the overall dispersion of China’s manufacturing exports’ technical complexity, both in the central and western regions, has been narrowing. The absolute difference has been decreasing annually. The overall dispersion in the east and northeast regions shows a trend towards expansion, and the absolute difference increases annually. In all regions, there are provinces where the technical complexity of manufacturing exports varies significantly, leading to either unipolarization or multipolarization trends.
