Abstract:
Abstract The “fission” strategy, characterized by its holistic nature, presents a novel approach to organizational change that promotes innovation and strengthens industrial chains. This paper analyzes Chinese SMEs(producing new and unique products using special and sophisticated technologies), using an antecedent-process-outcome framework and a two-way fixed-effects model to assess the impact of the fission strategy. The findings reveal that the fission strategy significantly boosts the overall innovation capacity of SMEs, with varying effects across different types of innovation. Younger firms are more likely to unlock their innovation potential during the fission process, while high-risk enterprises often adopt fission to mitigate market uncertainty. The paper also offers recommendations on government policy, strategic planning, and financial support, providing valuable insights for SME development.
