Abstract: Abstract In the face of escalating climate change, urban areas are increasingly recognized as critical battlegrounds for sustainability. This article explores the transformative potential of greening urban landscapes as a strategic initiative to achieve low carbon cities (LCC). By integrating green infrastructure, enhancing urban biodiversity, and promoting sustainable urban planning, cities can significantly reduce their carbon footprints. To fulfil the research objectives, a qualitative method is used in this study to gain a better understanding of the contributing factors and the benefits of the LCC program. In this study, a total of 5 informants were chosen to provide information to gather data and the informants are the officials directly in charge of the LCC programs. The findings showed the four initiatives taken to support LCC. Among them are water separation and reduction, sustainable transportation, building awarding and energy saving. Additionally, it discusses the socio-economic and environmental benefits of urban greening, including improved air quality, enhanced public health, and increased resilience to climate impacts. This article aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the role of urban greening in mitigating climate change and fostering sustainable urban development.
