Abstract: Abstract This study aims to analyze global research trends in community-based tourism (CBT) and community empowerment from 2019 to 2024 using bibliometric analysis and a systematic literature review. One hundred fourteen open-access articles from the Scopus database were examined to identify key themes and challenges in linking tourism development with community empowerment. The findings indicate that while CBT is widely acknowledged for promoting sustainable development, communities often face significant barriers, such as inadequate resources and policy support. The study highlights the need for improved stakeholder engagement and digital skills to enhance the effectiveness of CBT initiatives. Key themes identified include the critical role of ethical leadership and community participation in achieving sustainable outcomes. This research provides valuable insights for policymakers and scholars by mapping the evolution of this academic field and suggesting future research directions to support community empowerment through tourism better.
