Abstract: Abstract Currently, the global esports industry is undergoing rapid development, but it also faces numerous challenges, including intense competition, fragmented user traffic, and the diversification of entertainment options. Riot Games, a company with multiple popular games, holds a significant position in the global esports market. Its business operations model holds typical research value within the gaming industry. This paper takes Riot Games as a case study to conduct an in-depth analysis of the commercial operating model of esports, including business operations, challenges, and future trends. The research reveals the driving forces behind Riot Games’ success, including its ‘technology-driven + ecosystem expansion’ strategy and a business model based on diversified revenue streams. In response to market threats, Riot Games has innovated emerging business models, including decentralised tournament participation models, game content innovation, prioritising localisation in market expansion, enhancing user experience through virtual events, and transforming esports tournaments through blockchain technology. Additionally, the study proposes strategic recommendations, including collaborating with universities to optimise esports talent cultivation, integrating AI to achieve personalised player training, enhancing 5G-VR esports venues, and promoting industry integration through cross-media collaborations.
