A chapter in Proceedings of the 11th Annual Meeting of Risk Analysis Council of China Association for Disaster Prevention (RAC 2024), 2025, pp 248-252 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract On June 20, 2024, a county in the south of Zhejiang Province was suddenly hit by a once-in-a-century extremely heavy rainstorm. The rainfall intensity broke through the historical peak since the founding of the county. More than 350 roads in the county were destroyed by floods, more than 122000 people were affected, and the direct economic loss was 1.48 billion yuan. Faced with the sudden disaster, the county’s flood control command responded scientifically, quickly, and efficiently, minimizing the losses caused by the disaster and achieving zero casualties among stranded personnel. Summarizing and reviewing the successful response and emergency handling methods of this disaster, effective practical experience and suggestions have been provided, which have strong reference experience for other disaster departments to handle such disasters in the future.
