Abstract:
Abstract This study investigates the effect of job placement and self-efficacy on employee performance with job satisfaction as an intervening variable at the Personnel and Human Resources Development Agency of Karo Regency. The research was conducted on all 33 permanent employees within the agency. Given the relatively small population, the study applied a saturated sampling technique, making the entire population the sample. Data were collected using primary data through questionnaires and secondary data obtained from documentation studies. The analytical method employed was quantitative analysis, processed using SPSS version 25, which included the t-test, Sobel test, and path analysis. The findings of this research reveal several important results. First, job placement has a positive and significant influence on job satisfaction. Second, self-efficacy is also found to have a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction. Third, job placement positively and significantly influences employee performance. Fourth, self-efficacy also shows a positive and significant impact on performance. Fifth, job satisfaction itself exerts a positive and significant effect on employee performance. Moreover, the results further confirm the mediating role of job satisfaction. Specifically, job placement positively affects performance through job satisfaction as an intervening variable, and similarly, self-efficacy positively influences performance through job satisfaction. Overall, this study highlights the critical role of appropriate job placement and strong self-efficacy in enhancing both job satisfaction and performance. Furthermore, job satisfaction is proven to function as a vital mediator that strengthens the relationship between job placement, self-efficacy, and employee performance.
