Abstract:
Abstract Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming healthcare by offering new tools and capabilities for clinical decision-making and operational efficiency. However, its successful integration depends on the healthcare workers’ ability to adapt within AI-enabled work environments. This study aims to examine the relationship of psychosocial environment, psychological empowerment, trust in AI, and human-AI collaboration on adaptive work performance among healthcare workers in Malaysian private hospitals. This study draws on the Belief–Attitude–Behaviour (BAB) framework as a theoretical basis for explaining adaptive work performance in dynamic healthcare contexts. A quantitative, cross-sectional survey will be conducted using judgmental sampling to ensure representativeness of the study. Data will be obtained through survey questionnaires distributed to healthcare workers in Malaysian private hospitals. The data will then be analysed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM). The findings of this study are expected to contribute to the literature by extending the BAB framework to AI-integrated healthcare contexts. In addition, this study could provide valuable insights for healthcare practitioners and policymakers to optimize AI implementation strategies that strengthen workforce adaptability, build trust in AI technologies, and support sustainable digital transformation in healthcare.
