Chapter 1 in On the Structural Transformation of the Japanese Economy 1985-2023, 2026, pp 1-8 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Japan’s asset bubble economy (1986–1991) not only triggered financial problems but also brought transformative changes to both the demand and supply sides of the Japanese economy. Changes in employment and labor productivity emerged around the time of the bubble economy. We examine Japan’s economic growth by focusing on the interaction between manufacturing and service industries.
