Abstract:
Abstract Differences in industrial structure between regions are often cited as a cause of income disparities. Regions with growing industries naturally enjoy steady economic growth. On the other hand, regions with declining industries experience stagnant economic growth. However, even when there are no differences in industrial structure, specific regional circumstances can lead to differences in growth rates. Shift-share analysis, which examines the factors behind economic growth, provides insight into the details of Japan’s postwar economic growth.
