Abstract: Abstract This chapter deals with issues related to the adoption of technological innovation by agricultural cooperatives. These cooperatives possess some special characteristics, by comparison to other types of primary producers and are considered as lagging or even resisting innovation adoption. Consequently, the first part of the chapter presents some general notions of progress, growth innovation, and challenges their mainstream definition by placing within a defined cultural and philosophical framework. The second part of the chapter deals with economic aspects of technology innovation and innovation diffusion, especially as they relate to agricultural cooperatives, and it presents a series of case studies derived from different countries representing diverse cultural, developmental and organizational characteristics by emphasizing traceability, and on certification (molecular or otherwise) of plant propagation material as examples of technological innovation.
