Abstract:
Abstract The development of investment programs in environmentally friendly technologies and projects, and employee education is the basis for a long-term implementation of the principles and objectives defined in the environmental/sustainable policy and/or strategy of hotels. Such a program is an integral part of strategic planning and budgeting, focusing on financing the implementation of those technologies, programs, and activities. The volume and structure of such investments reveal the level of importance and earnestness that hotel management attributes to environmental goals. Research evidence was obtained via in-depth case studies undertaken with 180 hotels located in Croatia. The sources included organizational environmental policies and archival documentation, interviews with key personnel and an online survey which specifically focused on the area of environmentally connected investments vital for successful environmental management integration.
