Factors and Component of Logistic Cost: Typology of Costs
Jose Luis Guasch ()
Chapter Chapter 8 in Interventions to Reduce Logistic Costs for Trade Competitiveness and Poverty, 2022, pp 53-59 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract The three key factors that generate the logistic costs, and that are clearly interconnected and will be key to assess logistic costs, overall and by phase of the distribution path are times, losses, and logistic/service costs not only of transport but of all the associated service needed in each phase. Obviously, times and losses are costs, yet we treat them separately because of their importance and specific approaches to address (reduce) them. The idea is to evaluate the time involved (when relevant) for each element or phase-such as time from point A to point B, time to secure a certificate, a service, time in storage, or in consolidation center, etc. And finally to evaluate the spoilage rates by phase or component as well.
