Abstract: Abstract The chapter analyses the role of foreign aid as an external factor in the economic development of emerging market countries. The theoretical aspects of foreign aid are considered: the forms in which foreign aid is provided, the conditions under which it is provided, and its sources. The main donors and recipients of aid in the world economy are noted. The scale of foreign aid in the world economy from the second half of thetwentieth century to the beginning of the twenty-first century is given.
