Chapter Chapter 3 in Natural Disasters and Individual Behaviour in Developing Countries, 2017, pp 43-83 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter investigates the effect of natural disasters on individual behaviour, with a particular focus on individuals’ risk-taking behaviour and levels of trust. A theoretical analysis and empirical results from the literature are followed by an introduction to the conducted field experiment. Thereafter, empirical evidence from rural Cambodia will be presented in order to investigate the impact of natural disaster exposure and other socio-economic factors on individuals’ risk-taking propensity and levels of trust and trustworthiness.
