Abstract: Abstract The cooperative represents a legal business form that exists in many different countries and can be found in many different sectors. As of 2014, about one billion individuals were active in cooperatives all over the world (The International Co-operative Alliance 2014), and more than 5600 cooperatives were operating in Germany as of 2015, bringing together about 19.4 million members (German Cooperative and Raiffeisen Confederation – reg. Assoc. 2015). These figures demonstrate that cooperatives present a relevant business group in Germany and worldwide.
