Chapter Chapter 1 in China’s Direct Investment in Indonesia (1990–2022), 2024, pp 1-13 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract As the internationalization process of Chinese enterprises evolves, the investment operations of key countries have become the core link in the high-quality development of foreign investment. As the largest economy in Southeast Asia and a node country of the Belt and Road Initiative, Indonesia occupies a significant position in China’s foreign direct investment pattern. China’s direct investment in Indonesia exhibits the dual “emerging” nature of the home and host countries. This book takes Indonesia as the object of study and analyzes the evolutionary process, structural characteristics, economic effects, investment risks, and business model innovation of China’s direct investment in it. This chapter systematically describes the research background, research questions and research methods, as well as the main innovations of this book, including theoretical, methodological and empirical innovations.
