Chapter Chapter 7 in The Kyoto Post-COVID Manifesto For Global Economics, 2022, pp 111-125 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Our world today is one of increasing confusion, overrun with an ominous and widespread nihilism even as it needs a vision for the near future, while Japan itself suffers from stagnation: In this chapter, we discuss the way to overcome this situation by applying the concept of “polyphony.” Then we argue the necessity of reconstructing the cosmos. As the world is increasingly becoming a mere aggregation of fragmented and inorganic individuals, I think there is a need to reconsider the ways of thinking surrounding the correspondence between the microcosmos and the macrocosmos. The world of animism as discussed herein offers fertile ground, as does Eastern philosophy that is rooted in “nothingness” and “non-being” that could ably guide us on such a path. In this chapter, I would like to present a model as well as practical daily tasks that we could use towards the reconstruction of the cosmos, all using polyphony as a keyword.
