Abstract: Abstract This chapter provides an understanding of the contemporary role of CSR in the USA. To this end, an overview of the historic interplay between ideological, political, and economic forces related to the development of CSR is given, and the role of the four dominant ideologies, paternalism, trusteeship, new deal, and neoliberalism is discussed.
