Abstract: Abstract This chapter examines the efforts of the Western Australian Government to promote new economic, business and employment opportunities for local firms and residents in its non-metropolitan regions. Specific attention is given to the use of public policies, institutions and programmes to realise these opportunities based on increasing investments in the extractives sector.
