A chapter in Corporate Social Responsibility and Employer Attractiveness, 2021, pp 181-192 from Springer Abstract: Abstract Our analysis of the 25 CSR and non-CSR attributes evidenced that, compared to global data, students located in France appear to be less CSR-oriented when asked to choose among prospective employers. It appears that the dimension of socio-ecological responsibility of prospective employers is the least important for these students. Also, female students located in France appeared to be significantly more concerned with both socio-economic responsibility and employee responsibility than their male counterparts. Furthermore, students who have received CSR-related studies, equally value CSR-related attributes than those who did not. This finding is coherent with Hofstede’s characterization of the French culture whereby individualism predominates, and greater importance is attributed to the individual’s quality of work life in comparison to more collective values relative to CSR. Our results suggest much space for improvement in raising students’ awareness of CSR issues on primary, undergraduate and graduate levels. Furthermore, it seems that by active engagement in CSR, business organizations in France can play a role in sensitizing young graduates to CSR.
