Abstract: Abstract Challenges posed by gender and race discrimination during the recruitment process in Mozambique’s extractive industries are affecting development of this sector and preventing diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity for employment. Furthermore, it is causing resentment among various sections of society. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to explore how minority groups are experiencing discrimination in Mozambique’s recruitment process and propose solutions to enhance the recruitment process’s fairness and equality. The qualitative study was the research method adopted for the study. In this qualitative study, an inductive approach was used to create a meaningful theoretical understanding of the topic. This study used semi-structured interviews to collect information from five respondents. The findings revealed multifaceted factors causing the dearth of women and LGBTQ community seeking employment in extractive industries. However, the evidence for racial discrimination was not established.
