Abstract:
Abstract As an agricultural country, Indonesia has endless agricultural potential. One province with great potential is East Java with red bottom commodities. Shallots are a type of horticultural plant with the Latin name Allium ascalonicum L, which has potential as an export commodity. However, in a macroeconomic context, the prices of these commodities often experience shocks. The aim of this research is to see the effect of population growth and production numbers on the price of shallots in East Java. The result is that population has a significant effect on the increase in the price of shallots in the region which of course should also be watched out for if this can happen in the province of East Java. On the other hand, the amount of shallot production is not yet stable enough to meet community needs due to the low use of technology and farmers’ dependence on the weather. This indicates that the existence of the shallot commodity in East Java still requires further intervention from the government so that the price of this commodity does not experience a sudden shock and ensures that stocks and prices on the market are stable.
