Abstract:
Abstract Corporate governance is a global phenomenon that must be embraced by all nations and organisations, which are intended to succeed. However, given the recent global economic meltdown occasioned largely by banking scandal/fraud, and financial impropriety have obliged studies, directed towards interrogating the nature of corporate governance regulation for accountability. Similarly, these problems have deepened debates on the workability of corporate governance framework, business ethics, and codes of conduct as a check for corporate/organisational malfeasance. Corporate governance in Nigeria has been an area of focus and improvement over recent years, given the dynamics of corporate business malfunctions that characterises Nigeria’s corporations, has occasioned a critical assessment of how transformational leadership can engender effective governance for a better corporate stewardship, accountability, and transparency for more accountable and equitable corporate businesses in Nigeria.
