Chapter Chapter 3 in Chinese Strategic Decision-making on CSR, 2015, pp 29-53 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter deals with research on factors that influence the CSR-related strategic decision-making (SDM) process of individual decision-makers. Firstly, based on Hambrick and Mason’s (1984) upper echelon theory, it elaborates on the influence of external environmental and organisational stimuli, characteristics of managers, and managerial perceptions of stakeholder salience on the SDM process. Secondly, from an integrated perspective of SDM, the author summarises all the factors discussed in this chapter and generates a framework called “an integrated perspective of strategic decision-making process of individual decision-makers” (see Fig. 3.3). Thirdly, based on this figure, hypotheses are proposed. Finally, this chapter ends with a conclusion.
