Chapter Chapter 1 in Corporate Digital Responsibility, 2025, pp 1-61 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The chapter “Know-how! New Corporate Responsibility for the Digital Society” starts with the profound changes in the global economy brought about by digitalization. It discusses the progress and impact of digitalization, the role of data and “prosumers” in value creation, as well as the exponential development of technologies and their influence on the market and society. It also highlights the importance of big data, artificial intelligence (AI), and digital technologies for companies that are entering a new era of value creation through digital transformation and economics, as well as the emergence of new business and platform models. The need to reassess corporate responsibility is described, as the digital transformation brings with it new ethical, social, and sustainability challenges. Finally, the evolution of corporate responsibility (CR) into corporate digital responsibility (CDR) is outlined, including definitions, goals, prerequisites for success, and the impact on stakeholders. The chapter concludes by outlining how CDR can be implemented as a strategic and cross-industry concept in six steps to promote sustainable and responsible digital business practices.
