Chapter Chapter 4 in Corporate Digital Responsibility, 2025, pp 129-205 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The chapter “Just Do! Implementing CDR in the Company” is dedicated to introducing methods for implementing corporate digital responsibility (CDR) within companies. It highlights the strategic relevance of CDR starting with raising awareness at management level initiating CDR processes, identifying key areas of responsibility, and defining the next steps. Building on CR, which is already practiced in numerous companies, existing CR instruments are reviewed with regard to their applicability to CDR, and possibilities for involving new stakeholder groups are discussed in order to expand the CR approach in a targeted manner. For practical implementation, five international CDR frameworks are presented, analyzed, and evaluated. One focus is on the responsible implementation of artificial intelligence (AI), including the limits of AI ethics guidelines, the status quo at tech companies, and the global framework conditions. Various typologies of AI guidelines are presented that focus on digital responsibility and sustainability, supplemented by the use of innovative tools. Finally, the chapter reflects on the promotion of digital innovation in a responsible way, with a particular focus on start-ups and sustainable business models. It ends with reflections on the digitally responsible leader, how digital transformation is changing the leadership role, and how organizational structures can be adapted to the principles of digital responsibility.
