Scalar Linear ODE
Paulo Brito
Chapter Chapter 2 in Economic Dynamics and Distributions, 2026, pp 23-55 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Linear scalar (or one-dimensional) ordinary differential equations are the simplest differential equations. Methods for solving those equations, and applications relevant to economics and related fields, are covered in this chapter. It shows how they provide primitive concepts underlying both utility and production functions and statistic distributions. This chapter also introduces the simplest foundations for dynamical systems theory, and macroeconomic dynamics.
