Nearly half the respondents made decisiondecisions about their marriageMarriage themselves (41%). The majority (65%) of their parents received bride wealthBride wealth, including 51% receiving livestocklivestock. The average household sizeHousehold size and birthsBirth were 5.13 (maximum 27) and 3.94, respectively. The majority (74%) gave birthBirth in a health facilityHealth facility assisted by a nursenurse (62%), whereas some gave birthBirth at home (26%) assisted by a traditional birthBirth attendant (26%). The majority of mothersMother provided porridgePorridge of maizeMaize (72%), whereas others used sorghumSorghum (13%), finger milletmillet (6%), or a mixture (9%). The majority (89%) did not have enough foodFood for the entire year and felt that their breast milkBreast milk (23%), foodFood during lactationlactation (29%), and children’s foodFood (43%) were insufficient. For the majority (72%), it was not possible for their children to eat outside the house. Nearly half (48%) of the women experienced losing a child, influenced by the quantity and quality of children’s foodFood, and the majority (72%) experienced children’s sicknesssickness. The percentage of deaths among the birthsBirth was 35%, relatively higher than other research villagesVillage.
