Abstract: Abstract Within the scope of the 31st Heilbronn symposium on the subject to the socialization debates 1918/1919, this contribution is to show how parts of the old government elite tried to instrumentalize resentments to discredit democracy and the welfare state in public. This intention is to be proven in part one by the presentation of a corresponding source of the DNVP from 1919, and parts two and three are to point out the corresponding examples to show how the support of resentments—specifically of Anti-Semitism—was used in political practice, along with the success or failure of this tactical procedure.
