Cooperation Between Competing Companies: The Example of Polish and Belarusian Enterprises

Abstract: Abstract Enterprises today have to deal with increasingly difficult and very complicated development conditions and such circumstances force them not only to compete, but also to cooperate with other entities in order to use their potential more efficiently. Wide availability of studies on cooperation between both national and regional enterprises results from the growing importance of cooperation in development strategies. This article attempts to fill in the gaps concerning cooperation on the regional level. The study covers neighboring regions of Poland and Belarus. The purpose of the article is to identify the level of cooperation with competitors in selected sectors of Polish and Belarusian enterprises and to define the prospects of its strengthening in the near future. The research involves more than 500 companies. It is found that both low level of current cooperation with competitors as well as insufficient optimism which can be observed in the assessment level of interest by surveyed enterprises which are interested in cooperation in the near future.
